This service is for the introduction of mouse lines into a SPF animal house (see SPF). Direct transfer of mice to SPF would compromise the health status within the facility. Embryos do not carry the pathogens which afflict adult mice; it is for this reason that embryos must be transferred to pseudo-pregnant females in order to introduce a new line.
Price:
This price covers:
- Superovulation and matings of 5 females
- Embryo collection
- Pseudopregnant mothers and embryo transfer
- Animal agistment until weaning
- All consumables
Additional Charges:
- Transportation costs of mice to SPF
- Transportation
costs of mice to TASQ
- Animal agistment charges for housing of mice prior to matings and once pups weaned:
$AU 1.50 /small box / week $AU 1.80 /large box / week
Additional Notes and Recommendations
- Heterozgous/Homozygous females can be supplied by Client at appropriate age for strain. WT females can be supplied by TASQ at an additional cost.
- Males used as studs must be of proven fertility.
- These charges are based on embryo numbers from 5 females. As there are strain variations in response to superovulation, more than 5 females may be necessary to produce required embryo numbers for transfer. Additional charges may then apply.
- Once strain is rederived into SPF, studs will be culled at request of Client
- A TASQ application form for Rederivation must be completed prior to the commencement of services.
- AEC and GTR numbers must be supplied prior to commencement of services.
